The Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation’s for the AMERICAS organized an interaction program in New York on Sunday February 24 to talk about the Foundation and its planned activities amidst distinguished guests, Nepalese expatriates and friends of Nepal.

Hon Michael Blake – Assemblyman 79th District of Bronx NY, and a Vice Chairman of the Democratic Party National Committee was the chief guest, and special guests of the event were Rt’d Queens County Supreme Court Justice Thomas D. Raffaele and NJ Assemblyman Gordon M. Johnson – representing the 37th District were present on the event. Assemblyman Johnson is also an advisor to the GPKF-Americas.

President of the GPKF-Americas Somnath Ghimire shared the concept of GPKF-Americas, and the formation of its executive committee and its future activities. Chief guests and special guests of the events, all expressed greetings and support to the upcoming foundation and its activities in the days to come. 

General Secretary of GPKF-Americas Suren Sapkota, Central Members Ram Chandra Adhikari and Sharada Chhetri, NEAJA’s General Secretary Kira Marahatta and NSU America’s President Prabhat Sapkota briefly talked about the contribution of Nepal’s former Prime Minister – Late Girija P Koirala, popularly known as ‘Girija Babu’, his leadership in bringing political change in Nepal, among other things. Other distinguished speakers all appreciated the idea of establishing the GPKF-Americas, the role Girija babu had played in transitioning Nepal towards democracy.

GP Koirala Foundation America will work to achieve its goals especially in the field of Education & Health in Nepal. In America GPKF will work for Social Justice and Human Rights.
